Post-Game Recap: Oilers Fall to Coyotes in Overtime
The Edmonton Oilers put up a valiant effort on Friday night but ultimately fell to the Arizona Coyotes in overtime by a score of 3-2. The Oilers had a strong start to the game, outshooting the Coyotes 7-1 in the early going. However, the Coyotes were able to capitalize on a power play opportunity late in the first period to take a 1-0 lead.
The Oilers tied the game early in the second period on a goal by Leon Draisaitl. The Coyotes regained a 2-1 advantage later in the period, but the Oilers once again tied the game with a goal by Evan Bouchard midway through the third period. The game remained tied at 2-2 through the end of regulation, sending the game to overtime.
In overtime, the Coyotes were able to score the game-winning goal just 1:35 into the extra period. Matias Maccelli scored the goal for the Coyotes, assisted by Jakob Chychrun and Lawson Crouse.
The loss drops the Oilers to 41-27-10 on the season. They will be back in action on Saturday night when they host the Vancouver Canucks.
