$3 Billion Sheet Mill to Boost Economy, Create Jobs

Groundbreaking Ceremony Held at Apple Grove Site

CHARLESTON, WV - Governor Jim Justice today announced that Nucor Corporation has selected Mason County for a $3 billion investment that will build a state-of-the-art sheet mill in Apple Grove, West Virginia. The project, which will create hundreds of construction and operations jobs, is expected to break ground later this year and be completed by 2024.

The Nucor mill will produce hot-rolled, cold-rolled, and galvanized steel sheets – a key component in various industries, including automotive, construction, and manufacturing. The project is expected to create 800 construction jobs and 300 permanent jobs once operational, with an annual payroll of approximately $25 million.

Governor Justice hailed the announcement as a "game-changer" for West Virginia. "This historic investment by Nucor is a testament to our state's workforce and the pro-business climate we have created," said Governor Justice. "This project will bring hundreds of good-paying jobs to Mason County and boost our economy for years to come."
