Defending National Champions Remain Atop College Football Landscape
ATLANTA, Ga. (AP) - The Georgia Bulldogs have retained their No. 1 ranking in both the latest Associated Press and Coaches polls, released Monday.
The Bulldogs, who won the College Football Playoff National Championship in January, received 59 first-place votes in the AP poll and 62 first-place votes in the Coaches poll.
Ohio State, which lost to Georgia in the national championship game, is ranked No. 2 in both polls. Alabama, Michigan, and Clemson round out the top five in both polls.
Georgia's victory in the national championship game was its first since 1980. The Bulldogs are now aiming to become the first team since Alabama in 2011-2012 to win back-to-back national championships.
