Calgary Enacts Stage 1 Outdoor Water Restrictions

Calgary faces drought conditions

The City of Calgary has declared Stage 1 Outdoor Water Restrictions effective today, August 15, 2023, due to dry conditions and record-breaking heat. These restrictions limit when and how residents can use water outdoors.

Restrictions and Exemptions

The restrictions include a limit of two hours of watering per week, with specific days and times designated for watering. Permitted water uses during Stage 1 include watering gardens, trees, and shrubs; filling outdoor pools and hot tubs; watering new sod or lawn seed; and construction grading, compaction, or dust control.

Calgarians are urged to conserve water and use it wisely. The City will continue to monitor the situation and may implement stricter restrictions if necessary.
